Mary Jo Morse Nominated for ATHENA International Award

Mary Jo Morse was nominated for ATHENA International award from local leaders for 2014. ATHENA International was founded in 1982 with the mission to support, develop, and honor women leaders. Reflecting a quote attributed to Plato, “What is honored in a country will be cultivated there.” the nomination honored women improving the quality of life for others in the community with a “Women of Our Community” award. Mary Jo Morse has been a long time member of the Ohio State Bar Association, and served on a joint committee of the Ohio Banker’s Association and the Ohio Bar Association to review Ohio’s probate laws. Before joining the Wadsworth firm she served ten years as a bank trust officer. Three years after joining the firm, she became a partner. Mary Jo is a former President of the Medina County Bar Association. She has served on many local boards including the Board of Trustees of Medina General Hospital, Medina Rape Crisis Center, United Way of Medina County, Leadership Medina County and Hospice of Medina County. Mary Jo Morse was awarded the Medina Jaycee’s Distinguished Service Award in 1990 and the Medina County YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 1999. She recently acted as an approved Mentor for two new lawyers under the Ohio Supreme Court Mentoring Program.
